In the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile, a geothermal energy generating company is capturing the information of the different environmental variables and their meteorological statistics, every 15 minutes, thanks to the Campbell Scientific stations. These stations have been transmitting information - continuously - for more than two years. This company uses the information collected by Campbell stations to know the rainfall of each point of interest. In these locations, one on the top of a volcano and another on the plane, the geothermal wells were projected and the stations were installed. With our service, this client obtains relevant information-every 15 minutes-for your business, our user interface allows you to know on your desk, daily, how much water you have available for your operation. Through this information, our client can know and project the use of this scarce resource for the northern area of ​​our country.


Our client, the mining company Collahuasi, has operations on the border with Bolivia, in the altiplano of the Andes mountain range, where there is no possibility of connecting the stations. Collahuasi requires permanent knowledge of the climate of the area, to know if there will be episodes of bad weather that may affect their work. This information allows the safety of all its workers to be safeguarded, as well as the machinery associated with the different mining operations. Thus, with all the necessary information, the workers of Collahuasi will be safe during the rains or storms, and the production processes will be optimized, especially during the Bolivian winter between the months of January and March of each year. Our proposal was once again to integrate the IDP 690 into two Campbell meteorological stations and to provide the information of the climatic variables to the meteorologist of the company, for its analysis and forecast.


In the Andes mountain range, in the Maule Region, our client needed to know the snow level. This, to be able to size the amount of water that will be available for the reservoirs and how much should be consumed during the summer seasons. This information was necessary both to comply with the regulations of the Government of Chile, but also to size some variable of the project. Before he called us and we joined his project, our client climbed up the mountain range once a month - by helicopter - to measure the height of snow manually. Which was expensive and involved risks, taking into account that the station is close to 3,000 meters high. Since June 2013, we at IO-SAT installed the first 3 meteorological stations and measuring the Campbell snow level. Thanks to the reduction of costs and the stability in the communications, today we are connecting 7 more stations, in addition we are measuring the flow of rivers and rains in this remote area of ​​our country. The information is delivered through our Web page, and in Web Services M2M, for the direct incorporation to the systems of our client.


In the Atacama Region mountain range, in the Los Loros valley, our client, the mining company Lumina Cooper with its Caserones operation, required to connect around 60 wells with dataloggers and OTT sensors. Cacerones needed to measure the water level and quality of these 60 wells, of which 22 had no GPRS signal. They had a problem here. Our solution was to be able to deliver all the information that the site needed, in the format required by the OTT software - Data interpretation -, with high security standards, complying with the government's standards and reports, and the internal standards of the company.

Based on the requirement received, our experience in implementing this type of project and the provision of test lamps, a new integrated system is implemented to our communication platform where equipment designed exclusively for the capture of energy variables is added and control of the lighthouse and its respective presentation software interface based on maps, historical record of telemetry and anomaly alerts. The proposed solution works autonomously and integrated into the lamp.
